Best Of The Decade Contest

by Jrodius on 12/28/2009

One thing I love about the end of each year is all the “Best Of” lists that spring up.  So you can imagine this year is even more fun for me because it is populated by “Best Of the Decade” lists as well.

For those near and dear to me, you know that I am a freak for Arcade Fire.  This Christmas I was stoked to get one of the gifts I had been really hoping for, a copy of the recent reprinting of their debut album “Funeral” on vinyl.

This album has appeared on the Best Album Of The Decade lists of: Pitchfork (#2), The Guardian UK (#5), Rolling Stone (#6), NME (#7), Entertainment Weekly (#7).  Luckily, for both me and one of you, the record I just received came with an access code for a free digital download of this award winning album.  And I am willing to give it away for free to anyone that is interested.  I know it’s not much, but free is free, and I am happy to give away the gift of this great album to anyone who wants it.  Just reply in the comments area below with your email address or Twitter account.

With that out of the way, let’s get to my own “Best Of The Decade” lists.

Best TV Show:

  1. LOST
  2. The Office
  3. Arrested Development
  4. Daily Show
  5. Scrubs
  6. 30 Rock
  7. How I Met Your Mother
  8. Entourage
  9. Colbert Report
  10. Family Guy

Best Album

  1. Arcade Fire- “Funeral”
  2. Bloc Party- “Silent Alarm”
  3. Kanye West- “Graduation”
  4. LCD Soundsystem- “Sound Of Silver”
  5. Arcade Fire- “Neon Bible”
  6. Jose Gonzalez- “Veneer”
  7. Shout Out Louds- “Our Ill Wills”
  8. Nikola Sarcevic- “Lock-Sport-Krock”
  9. Shiny Toy Guns- “We Are Pilots”
  10. The Shins- “Chutes Too Narrow”

Think I am crazy?  Have I lost your respect forever by not picking a country album, or a reality show?  Tell me so.  But better yet you better give me a reason why you are right and I am wrong.  And don’t forget to leave your info for the free Arcade Fire album drawing I will do later this week.  Don’t be afraid to tell a friend about it if you think they may be interested in winning.  That’s what the buttons below the picture are for by the way.

Castor Oil and Limburger Cheese

12.24.2009

It is officially time to fear for the children of tomorrow.  With my child’s impending birth I have been forced to deal with the realization that he/she will be born into an era without either The Little Rascals or The Three Stooges to show them the way.
When I was growing up every Saturday and Sunday [...]

Today I’m doing a bit of an update piece just to [...]

LOST Season 6

12.02.2009

OK it’s official.  I am now shifting back into LOST mode.  For my own sanity I had to grab the melon baller and scoop out all the bits of my brain pertaining to LOST for about six months.  But I have pulled them out of the freezer, let them thaw and spilled them back into [...]

A Lifetime of Melodrama

There is a game I play with myself sometimes.  No, not Pocket Pool or Secret Sword Fight.  This game has never really had a name but it is a great game to play in the car on long drives.  I think I am going to call it The Movie of the Week Challenge.  Here’s the [...]

Last Minute LOST

03.04.2009

As always, this is your warning that if you are not up to date through last week’s episode, “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham”, then skip this post to avoid spoilers.
I had a few things that stuck in my head this last week I wanted to get out.  The episode as a whole was [...]
