I thought about letting this next clip just speak for itself. But then it struck me that most people can’t tell the difference between when crappy pop stars are lip syncing and when they aren’t. And if people are going to believe that Brittany really sounds that good then I really can’t trust you to sniff out the bullshit Fox News is feeding you.
Have a gander and I’ll meet you on the other side.
This may be one of the worst examples of journalism I have ever seen. Let’s point out one simple fact, not until two thirds of the way through this piece do they even cite who did the study. They completely lay out their agenda for the piece before getting to even the name of it. What kind of shady news is this? How is the public you are “informing” supposed to further educate themselves on the news you are bringing into their homes. In my opinion, Fox News watchers don’t desire any further education beyond the simplistic facts spoon fed to them.
Let’s break down a few issues. Everyone knows that the first rule of intelligent debate is that you never speak in absolutes. For the Fox News watchers out there, an absolute is when you use words like “all, always, every” when in fact you know that those words are untrue. See douche bag Tucker Carlson’s statements at the 00:34 mark where he claims that all authority figures at every school have the same political view.
So you are telling me there is not one Conservative instructor anywhere in the United States? I’m sure that would be a surprise to former college professor Newt Gingrich…
Here’s some further evidence of poor journalism, if you are going to spout off facts and statistics of this study as Carlson is, don’t then side step the question, “Does this study have any flaws?” by saying you don’t have it in front of you. You have obviously read it enough to be able to quote statistical information from it. And it’s not like he didn’t know he was coming on the show. So being unprepared is not an excuse when asked a question that challenges your position.
But herein lies the problem. If this was a true news channel, hosted by a true journalist, the host would have held Carlson’s feet to the flames on this issue. He would have called him out on his bullshit rhetoric. But that doesn’t happen here because cable news is news with an agenda.
Lastly let me address one topic. The statistic that one third of students surveyed can’t name the three branches of government is quoted in this piece. I have another stat for you. According to a 2005 study 36% of college students are high RIGHT NOW!
So does it shock me that 18% don’t know a right guaranteed by the first amendment? No!
Does it surprise me that 33% don’t know the three branches of government? No!
These are twenty year old college kids that, if my college experience is any indicator, have a foam pit in their back yard where a duck named Sassafras watches all the dumb fucks play a game called Detonator, where dudes stand in a circle and take turns slamming a beer against their skull till it explodes!
Have some fucking perspective people. And stop watching shitty news that would rather scare you than inform you. College is good, and your kids are fine. As long as they don’t watch Fox News or stay a virgin like Tucker Carlson.
