So I think I have been way too negative lately. Too heavy, not enough fun. To try and turn that tide I am going to post some of the things I have been enjoying as of late. Hopefully you all will dig them as well.
Zach Galifinakis- For many of us in the know, Zach is nothing new. The guy has had one of the best stand up acts for years. And thanks to the absolutely sublime new comedy, The Hangover, the masses have now discovered him as well. If you are late on the Zach bus here is one episode of a great on going series he has on Funny Or Die:
Frodo never had it so good! This website is dedicated to Low Impact Woodland Homes. But I like it because I imagine little dudes with hairy feet all gathered around each other dancing and singing songs as they drink a mead-like concoction in a very homo-erotic celebration of shire life.
Not depressed enough yet about the state of our world and how it is spinning out of control? Well luckily for you I found Breathing Earth. A real time map depicting the earths population growth and carbon emissions as you watch.
Why spend money on books anymore? Sites like Read Print are popping up everyday with whole free digital libraries of the world’s classic literature. Save a buck and read your next book online.
59 feet tall towering robots in Japan – Hot Shit
New Music I have bought in the last week:
Green Day- 21st Century Breakdown: Very obvious Beatles influences on this album. Not surprisingly, lacks the central theme and focus American Idiot had. Still a fun album.
311- Uplifter: I have decided, even as a long time 311 fan, that they suck at writing lyrics. However they create great melodies and harmonies. They are never gonna be the greatest band out there, but what they make, I like.
Foxboro Hot Tubs- Stop Drop and Roll: If you like The Hives or Mooney Suzuki, you will like this album.
Arcade Fire- Live in Paris (DVD 2007)
Stand Up w/ Pete Dominick: Quite simply the best political discourse I have been able to find on radio. Except it is not on radio it’s on XM/Sirius. Pete Dominick’s show on POTUS XM130 consistently has one of the best ongoing dialogues on American politics. If you want to just hear regular people speaking frankly about the country they live in, you should definitely make an attempt to find this show. The website was down as of the time of this post. If it still is, go here to learn more about the show.
